Romney Family Tree Has Polygamy Branch

While Mitt Romney condemns polygamy and its prior practice by his Mormon church, the Republican presidential candidate’s great-grandfather had five wives and at least one of his great-great grandfathers had 12.
Polygamy was not just a historical footnote, but a prominent element in the family tree of the former Massachusetts governor now seeking to become the first Mormon president.
Romney’s great-grandfather, Miles Park Romney married his fifth wife in 1897. That was more than six years after Mormon leaders banned polygamy and more than three decades after a federal law barred the practice.
Romney’s great-grandmother, Hannah Hood Hill, was the daughter of polygamists. She wrote vividly in her autobiography about how she “used to walk the floor and shed tears of sorrow” over her own husband’s multiple marriages.
Romney’s great-great grandfather, Parley Pratt, an apostle in the church, had 12 wives. In an 1852 sermon, Parley Pratt’s brother and fellow apostle, OrsonPratt, became the first church official to publicly proclaim and defend polygamy as a direct revelation from God.
Romney’s father, former Michigan Gov. George Romney, was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, where Mormons fled in the 1800s to escape religious persecution and U.S. laws forbidding polygamy. He and his family did not return to the United States until 1912, more than two decades after the church issued “The Manifesto” banning polygamy…
B. Carmon Hardy, a polygamy expert and retired history professor at California State University-Fullerton, said polygamy was “a very important part of Miles Park Romney’s family.”
Hardy added: “Now, very gradually, as you moved farther away from it, it became less a part of it. But during the time of Miles Park Romney, it was an essential principle of the Romney family life.”
Other Mormons have run for the White House, including Romney’s father in 1968 and Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, in 2000. But Mitt Romney’s stature as a leading 2008 contender has renewed questions about his faith and its doctrines…
Funny how the media hasn’t mentioned Barack Obama’s father’s polygamist ways. That is, apart from this from the UK tabloid, the Daily Mail:

In his book, he says that Ann’s mother, who went by the nickname Tut, did not want a black son-in-law, and Obama Sr’s father ‘didn’t want the Obama blood sullied by a white woman’.
In fact Ann divorced her husband after she discovered his bigamous double life…
Obama Sr was forced to return to Kenya, where he fathered two more children by Kezia. He was eventually hired as a top civil servant in the fledgling government of Jomo Kenyatta - and married yet again.
Now prosperous with a flashy car and good salary, his third wife was an American-born teacher called Ruth, whom he had met at Harvard while still legally married to both Kezia and Ann, and who followed him to Africa…
And this is Obama’s father, not his great-great grandfather. Who knows what Obama’s Muslim ancestors were up to in Africa a hundred years ago?
But speaking of fathers, how is it none of this was ever mentioned when Mitt’s father George ran for the presidency in 1968?
Was it because he was adamantly against the Vietnam War, and therefore a far preferable choice to Richard Nixon — at least in the eyes of our watchdog media?
And how often was Mo Udall’s Mormonism mentioned when he ran for president? Didn’t his great-great grandparents practice polygamy?
But our one party media are experts at selective and timely outrage.

The enemedia is just warming up, but I smell a Clinton.
Harry Reid is a Mormon. So why is he allowed to be Senate Majority Leader? What other skeletons might there be in his family’s closet, outside of hundreds of sleazy real estate and water rights deals?
Rudy is on wife number three, Newt is on wife number three, McCain is on wife number two and Mitt is still with wife number one after 39 years together.
That’s the scorecard, if anyone is counting.
But a philandering democrat is untouchable…
This is the lamest attempt at a smear job I have seen so far.

Well lets see now….Romney is a white man, republican, running for office. He is in the sights of every smear the AP can come up with, and subject to rapid fire accusations about his past and his character. After all, he is a white guy, and conservative.
On the other hand, Obama is a….well, he isnt a white guy, now is he? He is that long sought after mix that the AP can dote on without supposedly offending anyone! He is everything they need to gush superlatives about, and get all excited because he is “charismatic”, “refreshing”, “new”, and “a long time coming in American politics”. So, of course, being a “minority mix” and democrat…he can be offered up on the alter of public opinion without any chance of recrimination!
Now, keep in mind that regardless of how charismatic Obama is…he is right up to just about ZERO when it comes to leadership….especially of the greatest nation in the world. He will be cut to ribbons by the professional haters who make a living trying to bring this country down….and already, he is appeasing, rather than taking a stand with the adoring crowds who look at the image….and ignore the person. We dont need a hollywood president…we already have way too many right now…..what we need is a leader. Someone who isnt afraid to tell the truth…and to put a stop to this frat party atmosphere that is passing for government nowadays.
That means, Obama, being heralded by the AP and others, is the least possible option for leadership. It isnt a popularity contest…unless you are a democrat….it is a position of serious leadership. Obama forgets that he is popular only with the easily mislead by nice things in the media people….and not at all trusted by those of us who take this country’s position, precarious as the democrats are making it, seriously.
ANYONE…endorsed by hollywood, the media, the liberals, or Europe…should be avoided like the plague. It will be a total disaster for us as a society, as a Nation, and as people who live to be free….not live to have free things. Obama would wilt in the face of a crisis….and the world knows it…especially the terrorists, but also the weenie opportunistic European and Far Eastern leaders who would bitch slap him the minute he took office, and dare him publicly to do anything about it. Our weak spineless congress would screech at him to not do anything to appear “aggressive”, or ‘warlike”, and pretty much give the rest of the world whatever they demanded, and force the rest of us to thank them in writing for “saving us”.
Romney’s ancestors were polygamists, and a big fat SO WHAT? Who gives a damn what someone did before you were born. Is Romney a polygamist now? Is he suggesting everyone take on six wives? IS HE???? uh, no, he isnt. So judge the man, not his great great great grandparents. Besides, who has taken the time to look into the ancestry of every Senator and House fly? If ya did, somewhere, if you dig deep enough, every last one of them has a “bad seed” in the family tree.
Some, are the bad seeds themselves! Kennedy. Murtha. Pelosi. Shumer. Reid. Jefferson. All of them are scumbags with skeletons galore. John Kerry? Come on, the last person to pick on is Romney……with so many democrat slimebags like them to enjoy, and that is before you try to go back a couple of generations. This, like every last other story, is a one sided democrat liberal smear on anyone running against Obama and the Hill…..period.

No one seemed to care about how many women Bubba had before, during and after his 1992 campaign.
The rabid liberal media should be more concerned about the real crimes committed by the Clinton’s than by something that Romney’s ancestors may or may not have done a hundred years ago.
Neither of the Clinton’s can be held responsible for what they did or said even ten minutes ago. And yet, this. Just when you thought the media couldn’t sink any lower.
Why should a man be held liable for that? It’s absurd.

Talking about sleazy relatives (and I don’t count the Romney great-grandfathers who were following the tenets of their religion) can any candidate beat the brothers Rodham? Or what first lady had to read about her husbands long term affair (denied of course) written by the girlfriend and put in a sleazy (IMO) men’s magazine (Hustler if I remember correctly). The msm talk about the article in (was it) Vanity Fair but they never mention the one in Hustler. I read it and in it she told how much he enjoyed oral sex-in light of what we now know do we believe his denials? What candidate for President is still married to a man who has been accused publicly of rape, sexual harassment and groping and diddling a young intern? What female running to be the first FEMALE President of the US is still married to a man that she had to form a bimbo eruption team to combat the various charges made against him? So if someone is going to be tarred and feathered for something their forebears did well let the good times roll.

I guess we are to assume that since Mitt Romney carries his great-great-grandfather’s DNA we should be worried that if he is elected the Oval Office will start to see one wedding ceremony after another?
But there is no chance that Obama’s DNA will reveal him to be a drunk, womanizer who spreads his seed all across the nation? Or that his father was a Muslim which just happens to be the religious persuasion that is trying to kill as many Americans as possible, along with a lot of other nationalities?
But not to worry, Hillary has lots of little suprises for the empty suit known as Obama Bin Laden (or is it Osama Obama or perhaps Barack Osama?)

There is a very true aphorism (is that redundant or what?) that ‘you can choose your friends but you can’t choose your relatives’. Let’s take a look at Hillary’s friends; Ickes, Blumenthal, Gorelick, Thomeses, the Thomasons,Pellicano, Carville, (the guy that’s all forehead, I can’t think of his name at the moment), Lewis, the former President’ chief of staff’s wife, whazzername?) and on and on and on.(non of them of sterling quality in my opinion) All surround her by her CHOICE. But then she puts lie to that aphorism (oxymoron?) because she did choose her closest relative, her husband, the big He. We all carry the genes of our ancestors but we make our own mistakes. Who tells us that the Clinton marriage is off limits? That it has been thoroughly discussed and answered and “that was then and this is now”? Jennifer actually works out of their Salt Lake City office — obviously not happy by her LDS surroundings. If you look at her story history, she reports on polygamy all the time. Glen Johnson on the other hand reported from Boston, where they are looking for every possible way to smear their former governor. And he is always looking for ways to highlight the other candidates. So Harry Reid is a convert to Mormonism from Judaism. Is he a practicing Mormon? Or did he just want to get elected in a largely Mormon state?
Wikipedia does not give a date for his conversion, but mentions that he keeps a copy of the Book of Mormon on a shelf in his office.

He later converted his (also Jewish) wife.

Psst. Don’t tell anybody but MY great-grandfather was a Finnish immigrant who could barely speak English and who was a bootlegger during Prohibition and he had a brother who was a card-carrying Communist. Also, he drank whiskey and played poker for money. He was killed by an industrial accident in a granite-quarrying busines he ran with his Commie brother, aspects of which definitely contravened current OSHA guidelines regarding, among other things, the handling of explosives. Does this disqualify me from anything? I’d hate it if this ever got out.

Uh, can someone tell me why Obama is not allowing the press to report on his ‘travels’ and ‘fundraising’ events? O’reilly did a part on his Geffen love fest in LA, but the local media is reporting that Obama just left town without allowing media access to his ‘pay’ event here nor even a talk afterward.
I guess he figures that if he doesn’t let the media in they won’t know how racist he is? Or that islam is funding him? Or that he doesn’t have to answer why he wants to be President of the US while embracing the African father who deserted him while ignoring the American mother/family that raised him.
Oh yeah I keep forgetting I’m the racist for bringing all that up. . .

Thanks for posting the article that states that Obama’s father was a polygamist. Doing so clearly demonstrates that there is no media coverage of Obama’s father being a polygamist.

Feelings regarding polygamy aside - I suspect Romneys ancestors actually stuck around supported all his wives and families. Can the same be said that about B Hussein’s father?
